Hi guys, I would like to integrate a new system with OpenRemote. But I have no background in Java, XML, REST or HTTP (well these are the terms i saw when i read through the documentation). My question here is, what should i equip myself with in order to jump start to integrate my system's protocol to openremote system? pardon me if there is any wrong terms used.

Also, I find the developer tutorial is quite hard to understand. Are there any blog posts that also explains the same thing but in a simpler (and perhaps with printscreen and theory explanation) way? I found a few that only explains how to install as a user but not how to program as a developer.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Can you tell us what system you want to integrate? That makes it easier to respond.

It has a serial command protocol and it can communicate through 1. ethernet 2. serial port 3. USB.

My intention is to use a Raspberry Pi as the server. I've installed OpenRemote in it, just that i'm not sure what to do next?

It sounds like you need to implement your own protocol which will be hard if you are not a Java developer.
