Hi,

I need some help with the installation on my synology DS209 (MV6281 ARM processor), in combination with a Z-wave series 2 USB controller. Being a complete Linux newbe, i followed all the steps as clearly described in the installation guides.
Unfortunately, I seem to have a Java problem, as my Catalina.out displays:

DEPLOYING NEW CONTROLLER RUNTIME...

My zwave.log at /volume1/@appstore/OpenRemote/logs/zwave/zwave.log is however completely empty...

I have the java 7 package running ( version 1.7_40-0018 )

Is this a java problem?

Hi Gert

Most likely it is a java issue.
I am also running the OR Controller on my NAS (DS412+). I have installed av java 6 package,
and I am experiencing no issues. However, I am running Java 7 on my Mac, and when trying to
run rules while running the controller from the Mac everything crashes.

Download an older version of java and install this on your NAS and see if it fixes your issue.

Hi Istian,

I spent some time in setting individual rights, and I am getting there. This discussion helped a lot: http://www.openremote.org/display/forums/Synology+z-wave+newbie+problem

Finally I get the Catalina.out as required, and a zwave.log.

However, now my zwave.log states 1-wire...? I have a fibaro z-wave test sensor...

any idea where to correct this?

Sorry, i don't know how to fix that issue.
Hopefully somebody else on the forum has an idea.

This seem like zwave sensor has started properly. Did you try creating a zwave command attached to a button to test?

Posted by atamariya at Oct 15, 2013 04:31

Yes, I tried to create buttons and commands.
Maybe it is because my fibaro z-wave sensor and my Aeon-labs 2 USB stick are not compatible.

Another issue I am having, that can be the cause too, is that my web console does not connect.
If I am loggin in on <ip nr server>:18581 , it just continues to try to connect.
it looks like a controller problem to me.

As you see, I am not really experienced, sorry,

fibaro z-wave sensor

If you mean the Fibaro Universal Sensor (FGBS-001), I am pretty sure it is not yet supported in the OpenRemote native Z-Wave implementation. The Aeon labs USB stick did work for me with OpenRemote Z-Wave.

DiskStation> cat /volume1/@appstore/OpenRemote/logs/zwave/zwave.log
INFO 2013-10-13 17:58:02,234 (1-WIRE): Reader thread asked to start

This (1-WIRE) thing in the string is a relict which was left from early experimentation when the log settings were copied from the 1-wire protocol. I don't use OR-Zwave anymore, but I thought this had been fixed in the meantime. Do you happen to use an old version of the controller?

I managed to include an Everspring z-wave door/window sensor to the network with the help of z-wave.me. It didn't work with the Aeon Labs Z-Stick S2. See also the 'Notes' section at the end of OpenRemote 2.0 How To - Z-Wave (and also the comments).
