Hello all,

Just got my new home on KNX and the first thing I did was to try OpenRemote! Very cool. Managed to run OpenRemote and got something to work but having functional and stability problems.

1. My Interface is MDT which was approved by OpenRemote so I can't figure out why I'm getting "Disconnect failed" every once in a while... and sometimes when OpenRemote loads it is not usable and I haven't had time to figure it out. What do I need to tweak in the configuration for proper KNX (except for the router IP off course?)
I turned off all firewalls and anti-viruses on the Windows machine. I plan to deploy on a raspberry Pi with Linux later on...

2. I don't understand how to configure shutters. The OpenRemote designer does not allow me to import shutters from ETS4. It fails (Hibernate error saving to DB) regardless of which type I try to assign to it. I did manage on setting this up manually but then I can only tell the shutter to open and I would like a real controller with full open/full close/slider...
Is there a guide or any article on this?

Thank you!
Yosi

DPT for shutter is not supported but using 0-100% should work with slider.

Thank you. Can you tell me how to manually define it since it fails to import from the ETS4 project?
I assume I can also assign commands that send it to 0 and 100 meaning open or closed, right?

If there any guide on creating these and the various supported KNX types and how to use them?

Thank you. I was hoping for a more clear explanation or sample. I assume I need to assign a DPT 5.001 to the main item but then how do I get the status and level in percentage?

Does anyone have a KNX designer project to share?
Thanks.

Maybe this helps? http://www.openremote.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=19432285
You need 2 group addresse with DPT5.001. One to set the value and one to read the value.
And your shutter actuator needs to be configured to accept 1 byte (DPT5.001) values to set position and to sent shutter to bus after a change.

I see it all as 1-bits in ETS. I'm attaching a picture - I've marked one of the smart panels and the 1 of the shutters below so you can see the data types. Sorry it's in Hebrew.

Is it right? I didn't do this, my KNX installer did it...

Thank you for your help!

This looks like a screen shot from your push button.
How does the actuator look?

Ah - you mean the controller. Good question. Here it is:

I don't see 1 byte objects to set absolute blind position. This needs to be configured on the parameters tab.

Posted by mredeker at Apr 28, 2014 13:28

Do you mean the one called "Drive to absolute position via a 1 bit object?" - it is not active now. But how can it work using a 1 bit if its a full scale?

You need to enable "Objects for absolute position" and "Status objects".

Still need help. I spoke to my installer and he said that since it's not a smart shutter and it is just time based being managed by the KNX controller then this is not needed and that the shutters have two 1-bit variables - one for up and down and one for halting. This would be enough for me.

For example - address 1/0/9 is the up/down. I assume I need to send to it command: on/off
Address 1/1/9 is the halt command

So how should I program it?

Also - do you have any advise on the "Disconnect failed"? How can I debug it?

Thank you!

You can try a switch with 1/0/9 but you don't have a status. This means you need to use virtual commands to simulate a switch. You search the forums for virtual commands.
What do you send to 1/1/9 to stop, "1" or "0"?
I have seen the Disconnect before but don't know a solution at the moment.
