I have just purchased a multisensor and I'm trying to get any information out of it.
Has anyone else had any success and if so how please. I would be happy with just the PIR trigger or temperature.
Thanks.

Native OpenRemote Z-Wave does not do temperature. I also doubt the PIR trigger.
The implementation is focussed on binary switches, sliders, and a limited thermostat control.

Thanks for the help.
Mmmm that's going to put a halt to what I was intending to eventually do.
I was wanting to trigger lights on the light level sensor and PIR in the multisensor.
(I meant to say light level not temperature in the post above)
Further down the line I then wanted to start controlling my heating system.
Looks like OpenRemote isn't (on zwave) going to do what I want.

Did you consider Micasaverde Vera for Zwave-OR integration?

I think I'm going to have to, but why then use OpenRemote?
Surely if OpenRemote has the capability of talking to z-wave sensors why not cover sensors returning levels?
Thanks anyway for your help, much appreciated as I could have spent ages trying to get it to work

People with Vera integrate with OR for mainly 2 reasons:

  • full flexibility to create a great UI
  • integration with other protocols that Vera does not support out of the box

Surely if OpenRemote has the capability of talking to z-wave sensors why not cover sensors returning levels?

It's only a matter of time and man power. I guess that eventually we'll cover pretty much all the Zwave features natively, but this can take months or years to get there.

Eric

Been playing with a vera lite now for a while.

Wow I now know why people use OpenRemote to control the vera lite, the interface and methods for programming it are hopeless.
I'm an embedded c programmer by profession for vehicles and I have never seen a more obscure way for defining logic.

So now I'm starting to look at bringing OpenRemote in to play.
In the OpenRemote documentation it all seems very simple to interface to the vera lite however I don't seem to be getting anything working.

Add the vera address to the config for the controller and then add your devices using the vera protocol getting the device ID out of vera. simple but nothing happens.

Is the vera protocol in the 2.0.1-0008 controller version I have on my synology?

2.0.1 sounds a little to old for Vera protocol to be in it.
You can check on the filesystem if this folder exists: OpenRemote-Controller/webapps/controller/WEB-INF/classes/org/openremote/controller/protocol/vera

Any progress on this feature? I'm interested in using the multi sensor to automate a few things, I think it would be a great update!

Yes, making progress on Z-wave in general. We've got someone full time on it (Rainer) and that should hopefully lead to updates soon.
