Hi all,
after some problems with my controller posted in USER FORUM,
I have some questions:

1) Sensor Device: Command wrong ON instead of STATUS

  • I created the wrong sensor with the command ON
  • In my panel I craeated a new switch whith this SENSOR
  • I sync with my controller
  • When I try to use witm my panel this switch, doesn't work (this is right... the command was wrong )
  • The controller stopped to work, I deleted the wrong command in the design modeler and saved.
  • If I restart the controller, i can't sync with the online designer.
  • I deleted my controller, reinstalled it, and then sync.
Questions: Creating a new sensor, it's possible add a control message "Wrong command ON or OFF instead of Status"

2) Device e Command Name: Name length
There is a lenght limit for the command and device name ?
For example
Device Name: 00 BATH ROOM CENTER LIGHT
Command Name: 0/0/31 BAGNO CAMERA LUCE CENTRO ON
Are those names too long ? Are there problems wiht spaces in the name, it's better the underscore char ?
When I modified some names in short ones, it seems I have less problems with the controller.
What do you think about ?

3) Devices list order.
It's possible order the devices ?

Thanks

Hello Maurizio,

Thank you for this suggestion.

Questions: Creating a new sensor, it's possible add a control message "Wrong command ON or OFF instead of Status"

We've discussed this previously and agree that this should be possible. It will require some additional implementation work (at least the more generic case, not just KNX) since driving the UI behavior (which is not specific to any particular protocol) will have to understand some semantic detail of the protocol/commands it is dealing with.

Nevertheless, I do think that from usability point of view this is an important enhancement.

The task can be tracked in MODELER-268.

Best regards,

There are no known issue with long command or device names.

However, the tests regarding this are still very poor or missing. So I can't say with certainty that no issues exist (certainly, the database schema imposes some limit on very long names but this should be somewhere in order of 256 characters or longer).

If you find a specific case of long names or using spaces in names that definitely causes a reproducible error, then please let us know and we can try to address it.

Not possible at the moment as far as I can tell.

I've created a ticket for this feature request at MODELER-269.

Thank you for the suggestion.

while perusing Jira for rules related issues, I cam across this thread. The addition of semantic meta-information to commands requested in this modeller-268 issue, would be very useful for a graphical rule editor as well imho.
