Hello there. I'm trying to set up the Beehive and Designer components on a Debian VM. I started out with the Designer, not knowing about the existence of the Beehive component and figured out very quickly that I needed the Beehive component first, as it is stated in the readme file which I found in the project directory. I'm using the following versions, straight from the SVN repo:

I started from scratch reinstalling my Debian VM and installing the required software as stated in the readme.txt from the Beehive project directory.

I'm using Tomcat7, with Java version "1.6.0_27", MySQL Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.31 and apache-ant-1.8.2 (which I checked out from the "tools" directory).

I tried to get the beehive to work by following the instructions. The first issues I came across where these lines:
c) set "work.dir" parameter value to the folder which is the workspace of the beehive, including svn-repos, wo$
d) set "icons.dir" parameter value to where the icons folder is

I'm not sure what I should do here. I have checked out the projects in /home/myUserName/ and I'm not sure if I have to point it to /home/myUserName/Beehive_3_0_0_Beta1/ or some other directory. The default entry states "/opt/tomcat6/". There is no tomcat directory withing my /opt/ directory so I'm clueless what to do next. The same goes for the icon.dir parameter.

Nevertheless I continued and successfully worked my way through the following steps. I placed the beehive.war file in the $CATALINA_BASE/webapps/ directory and started tomcat. When I go to http://theIPAdress:8080/beehive nothing happens. When I check the catalina.out log the following error shows:

"INFO: Deploying web application archive /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/beehive.war
log4j:ERROR setFile(null, true) call failed. ../logs/ (No such file or directory)
at Method)
" etc..

and thanks in advance .

Bump! I don't want to be rude but can anybody take a look, it will be greatly appreciated.

You have to create the log folders manually. In this case: /logs/
As far as I recall there should be some other folder that need to be created also.
I think the work.dir and icons.dir can just point somewhere and some kind of svn error can be ignored also.
