I added a Linear Garage Door Opener to my system and get the following in zwave.log:

it does not operate as a "Switch" - when I do create one and click open, I get in zwave-debug.log:

DEBUG 2016-01-20 13:34:15,019 (Z-Wave): Command_Builder : Z-Wave command created successfully

Is there an obscure command I need to use instead?
