Following these instructions-

1. Install OpenRemote Controller

Download OpenRemote 2.0
Uncompress the zip file on your desktop. Start the Terminal application and change to your Desktop directory. From your Desktop change to OpenRemote bin directory and execute ./ run

I could only get the shell script to run by using the command

bash /Users/tv/Desktop/OpenRemote-Controller-2.1.0_SNAPSHOT-2013-06-17/bin/

which produced the error

Neither the JAVA_HOME nor the JRE_HOME environment variable is defined
At least one of these environment variable is needed to run this program

In case this is interesting for any reason, I am attempting to install on my media centre Mac Mini running 10.9.2

I installed a version of Java (I think 7 r51 from oracle) but get the same message. What am I doing wrong please?

I have a line

export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/Home/
in my .bash_profile file in my user home folder.

Thanks for the info Marcus. I have some (probably not enough) skills, and plenty of resources except for time. So I have decided to wait until Open Remote has a proper installer that can hide this type of complexity from the user.

I absolutely love the concept but for the moment I will have to go back to my previous and less ambitious plan.

Thanks again for your help.
