Hi all,

Really impressed with the tremendous work that it's being done here, but a bit overwhelmed, I'm afraid. I'm a total newcomer to the HA world and am planning to start learning and experimenting right away so I can develop a really full fledged system for the new home i'll soon start building. And wondered whether someone could help he get started...

First and foremost, I've decided to go with TCP/IP as the main protocol and my guess (here's where I start begging for help) is how to connect Openremote to an RJ45 Relay so i can start controlling devices and whether that is even the thing to do! In case it is, does any Relay do the job or should I buy a specific brand or set of features?

Thanks everyone,

I am using a IP relay, vendor Teracom. It's working fine. I use the HTTP commands for the moment in order to get the xml file the unit returns. Normally IP relays will also support the of SNMP commands. I'm currently testing with the help of Juha with the SNMP protocol.
The unit I use is ment to monitor and control my solar heating system. Openremote works perfecly for this
