I'm interested in using Stella Z TRV's to provide zoned heating, the tutorial provided covers getting Stella Z working with Razberry and OR, however there's no indication how I provide a 'call for heat' to the boiler, is anyone able to give pointers.

StellaZ and even more Danfoss LC are meant for heating (weather-dependant) systems that try to minimise and maintain the temperature of the circulating water. The battery driven thermostatic devices will do the final local trimming. If the base water temperature fluctuates over a wide range, your radiator devices have to work a lot, and consequently your battery life will be reduced.

StellaZ has no direct provision of controlling the on/off switch of your boiler, but it does have an internal temperature sensor which you may use in a rule that controls the boiler.

Great thats pretty much as I thought.

I'm leaning towards the StellaZ to do direct valve position control, which would avoid the valve changing too much if the boiler flow temperature fluctuates too much.
