Hi,

Been looking for a solution towork with velbus (www.velbus.ee). Has anyone had any luck interfacing velbus to openremote ?

Thanks,
Eamon

Have not heard but maybe someone else from the community knows?

Hi

I'm new to OpenRemote and would really appreciate some help.

I import and support the whole Velbus range of home automation modules and would really like to offer some of my clients a more flexible remote interface that supports additional protocols, like the iTach modules.

Is there anywhere I can go to read up on how to get the Velbus system working with OpenRemote.

Many thanks

Stuart

Hello All,

I have some exciting news.

The Velbus protocol is in the process of being fully integrated into OpenRemote

There will be 61 new commands that should give exceptional interaction with Velbus.

As well as a commercial function to access multiple Velbus networks via TCP/IP. (Although this function will not be activated at first because it needs a little more coding and testing.)

We are in the process of proving out the new commands and creating the How To document.

There will be a public announcement soon

While we're in the testing process, is there anything that anyone would like us to test?

Cheers

Stuart

Hi

Just as a small, yet important update.

I've just finished testing the 61 core Velbus commands for OpenRemote.

Tomorrow I'll be working on the command vs. module comparison table.

There's still a lot of testing to do, but it's a significant mile stone.

Hi Stuart, that's good news. We look forward to it.

Hi,

As another update, here is the comparison table I'm working on for Commands Vs. Modules.
You can see that all the current modules are working well, with only a few minor bugs, the older modules will be tested very soon.....

So only the case study "Graphical User Interface" to create next.... Anyone any good at graphics that's fancies lending some skills?

Module type ---- Firmware ---- Date tested ---- Tested by ---- Notes / Observations

VMBGPODx ---- 1436 ---- 13th July 2015 ----Stuart H ---- Don't send too many commands too quickly, leave reasonable delays between commands

VMBGP4x ---- ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing, but should work as expected

VMBGP2x ---- 1349 ---- 14th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- Everything worked, except the Thermostat Enable and Disable

VMBGP1x ---- 1347 ---- 14th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- Everything worked, except the Thermostat Enable and Disable

VMB8PBU ---- 1350 ---- 14th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- All commands performed as expected

VMB8PB — Not compatible

VMB6PB — Not compatible

VMB7IN ---- 1439 ---- 13th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- Sensors for energy values prefer "Custom Sensor" types.

VMB6IN — Not compatible

VMB4PD — Not compatible

VMBPIRO ---- ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing

VMBPIRC ---- ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing

VMBPIR ---- ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing

VMB Analogue ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing

VMBWS ---- ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing

VMB1BL — Not compatible

VMB2BL — Not compatible

VMB2BLE ---- 1325 ---- 13th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- All commands performed as expected

VMB1BLS ---- ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing, but assured by Velbus that it will behave as a single channel version of VMB2BL

VMB1DM — not available for testing

VMBDME — not compatible

VMBDMI ---- 1201 ---- 13th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- DIMMER_STATUS command only returns N/A. ON command doesn't work, use Dimmer_level @100% instead. However this causes an Off & Memory toggle when used with a switch and slider combo. (Both methods were used on the same page) - Sliders worked perfectly. Switched worked when not effected by Slider at any point.

Switch will work perfectly on first load, but once a slider has been moved, then the switch (with commands OFF and DImmer_Level:100) will only toggle between Off and Memory

VMBDMI-R ---- ---- ---- ---- Not currently available for testing, but assured by Velbus that it functions as a VMBDMI

VMB4DC ---- 1327 ---- 28/June/2015 ---- Stuart H ---- ON Command doesn't work, must use "DImmer_level"@100 instead. However, this causes a Off & Memory toggle when used with a switch and slider combo. (Both methods were used on the same page)

Switch will work perfectly on first load, but once a slider has been moved, then the switch (with commands OFF and DImmer_Level:100) will only toggle between Off and Memory

VMB4RY — not compatible

VMB4RYLD ---- 1327 ---- 13th July 2105 ---- Stuart H ---- All commands performed as expected

VMB4RYNO ---- 1327 ---- 14th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- All commands performed as expected

VMB1RYNO ---- 1325 ---- 14th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- All commands performed as expected

VMB1RYNOS ---- 1422 ---- 14th July 2015 ---- Stuart H ---- All commands performed as expected

The hour has finally arrived where we can say that we have finished testing all of the Velbus modules for functionality within OpenRemote.

Next stop is to create a case study and complete the 'How To' guide.

The easy bit?

The easy bit?

For RaZberry I've done one page mostly on the protocols, and a couple of other pages about applications that demonstrate the usage.

Okay

Let's talk on the phone and see how best to approach this next step.

Thanks

I am not part of the OR-team. I think Pierre Kil is the person to help you further. He assisted me too when I started writing.

I am interest in Velbus in combination with open remote, and therefore support you very much. Do you have an idea when the first version for velbus will be released?

Thank you

Hello Richard,

Thanks for the interest.

We are in the closing stages of creating the Velbus integration.
It'll only be a matter of weeks now.
The protocol is all finished, its just the incorporation into the next release of OpenRemote that we are waiting for.

May I ask if you want it for your own use, or as an installer?

The only thing that is still to do is the import wizard to make life easier with the system modeling.

Just to be clear, are you using current (2nd generation) Velbus modules?

Please feel free to contact me directly for assistance building your Velbus design in OpenRemote, as your feedback will help me edit and shape the how to document.

Cheers

Stuart

Thank you.
I want to use it for my own use. I have just bought the velbus stuff this year, thus that is newest generation.
I am not that good at programming, so I surely can help you with tips (read questions) for the How To document.

Hi Richard,

That's excellent news.

I'd be more than happy to help you get your Velbus system up and running with OpenRemote.

The protocol isn't available in the controller as yet, I'm told it will be in the next full release.

If you don't want to wait, you can make a formal request to the management team to have Velbus added to your Pro account as a special case.

Once the protocol has been added to your account, I can give you the pre-release files you'll need to manually add to your controller.

After that I can help you get your design working.

Just as a thought,

Is there anything specific you'd like to be able to do, other than just switching things on and off.

Cheers

Stuart
