Hi, I can't seem to figure this one out. I can browse to /webconsole and control my devices but I can't open a panel from my cell phone. It eventually times out and says "There is no controller server available. Leave this problem?" it give me the option to go into settings and I can confirm my setting are correct but I cannot open a panel. Also, if I try to browse to /controller I get a 404 apache error saying "The requested resource (/controller/) is not available". I assume since I can access the webconsole and control my device that the controller is running. Can someone point in the right direction?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Make sure you are using the correct IP address (i.e. the IP address of the computer that the controller is running on) for the controller URL (http://localhost:8080/controller won't work on your phone as the controller is not running on your phone).

Also make sure that there are no firewall rules preventing access.

Hi Richard,

I don't use localhost. It was working working before and the fact that I can get to http://192.168.200.105:8080/webconsole tells me that there are no firewall issues. From my cell and from a computer I can get to the webconsole, but where I try http://192.168.200.105:8080/controller I get error 404 "The requested resource (/controller/) is not available".

All I've been doing it updating panels, could something in one of my panels cause this?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Mike,

OK I thought I'd check the obvious first and wasn't sure if you were using the android console or the webconsole on your mobile.

If you can access the webconsole but not the controller then it suggests there is something wrong with the controller web app during startup that is causing it to fail. The best place to look for clues will be the console window; look for any error messages that appear when you start OpenRemote and also check through the various log files in the logs directory.

Hi all,

Actually, I also have the same problem in iPhone5. I have a very simple panel only with one text label. I am able to open and see the webconsole but not with the iphone app. Did you find the solutions for that? Below is what I have in Terminal.

After starting OpenRemote from Terminal, I got this...

AGS:desktop adriangarciasantiago$ cd OpenRemote-Controller-2.0.2/
AGS:OpenRemote-Controller-2.0.2 adriangarciasantiago$ cd bin
AGS:bin adriangarciasantiago$ ./openremote.sh run

Any idea what I am missing here? Can you see something wrong?

Hi Adrian,

I was never able to figure it out. After spending several hours on it I just ended up reinstalling OR and it has been fine ever since.

Sorry I can't give you more than that.

Hi Mike,

I find out that it is working if I turn off the firewall in my mac. Do you think it is a good idea? Do you know how to allow access to this controller without turn off firewall?

Thanks

Adrian

Adrian,

If your OR server is on the internet then it's not a good idea to turn off your firewall. I use a VPN connection (using OpenVPN) to access my OR server so I am not dealing with the firewall rules so much.

I have setup the controller fine , i have a working VPN to my computer where the VPN is connected to , the problems i am having is accessing the controller via my iphone away from home. in the open remote app you have to add controller URL , is this my public ip address .the one to access my broadband router ? I have spent days setting up my VPN and now struggling with the final step , any help much appreciated
